Skin-needling is safe for all skin types because no harsh chemicals are used during the treatment which could cause a skin reaction. Contraindications to Dermapen include skin diseases such as psoriasis or eczema, open wounds or cystic acne, keloid scarring and pregnancy.
Treatments can be repeated every two to six weeks until the desired result is achieved. We recommend starting with three treatments. For anti-ageing, an average of four to six treatments are commended. Results can be seen from one to eight weeks after treatment. More significant results will occur after four to six treatments.
Your Sculptress therapist will thoroughly cleanse and sterilise the skin before a Dermapen skin-needling session. The treatment is minimally invasive and has little to no downtime post-procedure. It is considered safe for most people who are in overall good health. The exceptions are people on particular acne medications or for women who are pregnant.
Dermapen micro-needling kick-starts the production of collagen, which softens the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, improves skin sagging and reduces pore size. Acne scarring will improve from micro-needling, as will the overall texture of the skin, creating smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Micro-needling is mostly used on the face, but the décolletage and hands may also be treated during the same session.
The side effects post-treatment are minor and may include slight swelling and discomfort, redness or minor flaking of the skin. Slight bruising is possible in people with very sensitive skin prone to bruising easily.
Everyone heals differently, however clients usually begin to notice results as their skin starts to heal within four to seven days post-treatment.
Depending on your treatment schedule, within two to six weeks you will be ready for your next treatment where the positive results will compound towards clearer, brighter and smoother skin.
