Skincare creams and serums only treat the outer layers of the skin, whereas Dermapen actually stimulates the production of the skin’s building blocks – collage and elastin – from within. Another benefit of micro-needling is that rejuvenated skin is better able to absorb the nutrients from skincare products. Therefore serums, eye creams, moisturisers and masks work more effectively.
Dermapen treatments can help improve acne scars caused by cystic acne and pimples. Severe acne scarring leaves the skin pitted and uneven. Dermapen reduces acne scars by promoting collagen and elastin production to create firmer and smoother skin.
During a Dermapen micro-needling treatment millions of tiny micro-channels have been made in the skin. It is therefore very important that you don’t touch your skin for four hours post-treatment. The treated skin must also be kept dry for six hours. Your therapist will recommend skincare products to promote healing.
Minor skin irritation, redness and swelling are the most common side effects post-procedure.
Though unlikely, more severe side effects may include:
Swelling
Discomfort where treated
Redness
Bruising
Dryness
Skin flaking
There is almost no downtime after a Dermapen treatment. Your skin will appear flushed and slightly red in treated areas. Most of the redness will subside within 24 hours. Light skin flaking may occur depending on your treatment’s intensity. In two to five days your skin will be completely healed and you will experience glowing skin.
